About

About Jason DeCesare, LMHC

I am a Licensed Mental Health Clinician (LMHC) with clinical experience at Butler Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island, where I leverage my extensive experience to support individuals facing a range of mental health challenges.

With a background as a former law enforcement officer and working in the corporate sector, I bring a unique perspective to my therapy practice, specializing in anxiety, depression, PTSD, and grief, among other issues and challenges related to mental health.

In my practice, I employ Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Evolutionary Psychology, and other therapies to help my clients achieve lasting change. My diverse experience and compassionate approach enables me to offer effective, empathetic, tailored support to those navigating complex emotional landscapes.

My Values

I am guided by the belief that healing occurs when an individual and therapist come together to create a strong sense of rapport and understanding. Once a safe, trusting therapeutic alliance has been forged, you can take steps towards living a more fulfilling life and deepen your connection with yourself and others. I bring my own unique background, training and style to each session, which begins with the client’s own innate capacity for healing through self-reflection and self-compassion.

I operate under a core set of values that guide my practice and foster effective therapeutic relationships. Empathy allows me to connect on a personal level, while confidentiality and trust ensures a safe environment for open dialogue that is often sensitive in nature. Respect for each individual’s unique experiences and backgrounds is crucial, along with a commitment to integrity and ethical conduct.

Additionally, collaboration with clients in setting goals enhances the process, all supported by a foundation of professionalism and continuing education. Together, my core values create an environment conducive to healing and personal growth.

Policies

All communications between client and therapist are kept strictly confidential. Your confidentiality is protected by law. I will only release information about our work together with your written permission.

These are the exceptions to my privacy policy:

To be effective, therapy needs to take place on a regular basis. The best results occur when appointments are consistently scheduled and regularly attended. Therefore, in the event you need to miss a scheduled appointment, rescheduling is much preferred over cancellation.

In the event of a cancellation or rescheduling, I ask if you could give me several days notification. Appointments cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice will be charged a cancellation fee (the price of the therapy session). Please note that health insurance plans do not pay for missed appointments; therefore these charges will be entirely your responsibility.

I understand that on rare occasions emergencies do occur. In these circumstances I will do my best to reschedule the appointment for an alternative time the same week.

If you contact me by email, I will attempt to respond within 24 hours, with the exceptions of weekends and holidays. I will use email for routine administrative issues, such as requests to cancel or reschedule appointments. I will not reply to messages about clinical conditions/issues.

If you need to reach me, please contact me via phone and leave a message.

If it is an emergency, please contact your local hospital or call 911 for assistance.
